Welcome to the new version of the Buffalo Bicycling Club website. The new website boasts a variety of new features (outlined below) that will help bring the latest and greatest club related content to you and others as you share links and media through various media outlets online such as Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, Digg, and more.
NEWS FEED, ALERTS, AND RACE SUMMARIES
The News section has three types of news stories. General News which incorporates General news, News Alerts, and Race News. Alerts, are for announcements like race cancellation. Race News, which are summary blurbs associated with recent race results, club or other. While General News is for announcements regarding club news and/or business.
Alerts will display on the front page at the top of the white content area in a red box for the first 24 hours to alert you immediately to any race cancellations or changes in events or rules. After that they will continue to be available in the News Archives.
For those of you who use RSS readers in your Browsers, Mail Programs, or iGoogle don't forget to add the News Section RSS feed to your reader to get instant News coming straight from the BBC website to your reader!
MEMBER ADMINISTRATION
Perhaps the most progressive feature of the website is the Member Administration features. Using the Account Settings provided to you when you become a member (send in those applications asap) of the Club, you can use the "Sign In" link to log in and manage your Member Profile. A Member Profile consists of your Name, Bio, Photo, Team, and Yearly Results. Results from Club events will instantly populate as race results are posted.
RACE / COURSE MAP / RESULTS
Race information is now categorized by "League" (BBC, USCF, NYS, etc.) and "Series" (Club Races, Team Series, etc.) to better organize and catalog races. Each race page consists of as much race information as you can possible handle. Race Name, Location, Course Map, Levels and Distances (A Race, B Race, Cat 4/5, etc.), Race Director, Marshalls (with an Online Application link), Sponsors, Details, Directions, and Results. The course maps are posted on the Course Maps page. Each map has the course's 1 Lap route, distance, elevation, details, and directions. You can also open the full map in MapMyRide using the link provided on the page.
Races and Results will also be archived and you may look back at past years results.
ONLINE SHARING
For those of you on networking website such as Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, etc. Be sure to note the pages with the "Share" button that allow you to post links to specific Race, Team, Course Map, Member Profile pages. This will allow your friends and networking buddies to keep tabs on pages and draw visits to the BBC site.
REMEMBER: You must be active member to take advantage of some of these features so hurry and get your membership application and team application in.
