Final race to decide CCTS-2009 podium. Tonight!
The overall podium positions of this year's exciting Cobblestone Criterium Twilight Series 2009 will not be decided until the finish line this evening when the leading riders will be making their final bids for glory. Teams battle reaches fever pitch in Cobblestone District, plus Fixies!
A crowd gathered under threatening skies tonight in downtown Buffalo as Western New York's finest put on a show to behold. The attacks came fast and furious from lap one as the ever-present Shickluna, Rochester's MVP Health Care, Handlebars Cycle Co., and more threw it down in the battle for series points. A select group finally made it stick, leaving the capacity pack fighting for scraps. In the end, it was the Shickluna green machine that proved too much. Crit Racing in Downtown Buffalo
Mike Bridges, Shickluna, takes another win this week. As the day light dwindled Mike bridged up to the break, solo, and was able to power off the front for the win. he was followed by teammate Jay Joslyn for 2nd; Ken Thomas, Wells Fargo Advisors, 3rd, Ryan Nye, MVP, 4th; and Mustafa Iman, Shickluna, 5th. Bridges Owns the week
Mike Bridges, Shickluna, takes his second win this week. Mike was out in front of a good group tonight at the Cobblestone Criterium Twilight race. The race broke up early under the pressure of Mike and Ken Thomas, Wells Fargo Advisors. After a few laps the chase group, or what was left of it, managed to bring them back. This group was wittled down as riders were getting popped off the back. With two laps to go the field exploded as Mike opened up a huge gap to take the win. Craig Polston took the win in front of Lance Johnson, Wells Fargo Advisors, to complete the weekend for the Bike Shop. The Bike Shop took 4 of the top 5 places but with the numbers they could not figure out how to keep Lance off the podium. In the A race Mike Bridges, Shickluna,  and Scott Hunt, Handlebars, broke from the field on the first lap. Mike was never seen again, but Scott went back to the safety of the chase group after 5 laps. The chasers had Mike in their sights the entire Race, so he really had to bury himself lap after lap. The Bike Shop led by Adam Trost stormed to victory on Saturday in the Team Time Trial with a time of 45:38. They showed their dominance in the B series and also posted the best time of the day. Managed Care Network held on to their lead in the A series by finishing with a time of 47:14. Full results soon....
