Criterium Racing In Downtown Buffalo's Cobblestone District
Artist Rachel Gottorff designed this beautiful poster to promote what will surely be an exciting race series on the streets of the Cobblestone district. A huge "Thank You" goes out to her for donating her work to the BBC, and for doing it so quickly and on such short notice. Joe Cooke/Paul Mesi post wins for French Meadow Bakery/Fortistar - Scott Hunt also wins
This just in from the Tennessee Highland Rimm Cycling Classic. In the Cat. 4 stage race, Paul Mesi score a 1st place in the stage 2 up hill TT. The TT was 2.5 miles at a 8% grade. In the morning road race, a 55 miler with 38 starters, he placed 7th, making the winning break of 9 riders. The next day, in the final stage, a 30 min criterium, he finished 5th, making him the the 3rd overall for the stage race. Criterium racing returns to Buffalo. The Buffalo Bicycling Club has signed a deal with the city of Buffalo to put on a series of races in the cobblestone district on Thursday nights in June and August. Mark your calendar for June 4th at 6:00 PM. That's when it all starts. We will race each Thursday in June except for the 25th, July 2nd will also be a race date. We have a conditional agreement to race each Thursday in August, contingent on how the events go in June. The racing will be on a flat closed circuit, with police on duty. Stay tuned for more details....

Jose Alvergue and Lance Johnson win at Tour de Syracuse!
The BBC was well represented this past weekend in Syracuse, with several members taking wins.In the Cat 5/35+. Lance Johnson (Tom's Pro Bike/Plan2Peak) won the Omnium by winning the road race, and finishing 3rd in the TT and 18th in the crit. In the Cat. 5/under 35 yrs., Jose Alverque (Managed Care Network) won the Omnium, finishing 3rd in the TT, and 4th in both the crit and road race.Also in the Cat 5/under 35, Adam Trost (The Bike Shop) won the 3 mile TT in a time of 6 min. 58 sec., and finished 9th in the Omnium.Also in the road race, Vince Lorenz (The Bike Shop) a...

On a cold, windy, dreary morning, 34 racers came to test themselves on Grand Island. In the Cat. A race, Jay Joslyn posted a blistering time of 25:54, while in the B race, Stuart Green grabbed his second Cat. B time trial victory of the season beating Brian Rohr by the slimmest of margins, 1 second. Check out the times....

This year Nickel City Cyclist will be bringing back a favorite, the Cobblestone Criterium; a beautiful and challenging course through Buffalo's historic Cobblestone District. Speed Week
Wile some of us were racing at Alabama and Langford, BBC member and Wells Fargo Advisor Andy Cummings was turning the pedals down in the deep South racing at Speed week. Andy spent a lot of time this past winter training hard and it really shows. I heard good things early in the season during the Giros, and now I see the fruits of his labor. Andy had some really nice results last week. Wednesday in the CAT 2/3 Downtown Walterboro, SC Crit he finished 10th out of 49 starters. 83 Riders for Langford - Joslyn Solos in the A's, while Lorenz takes the B race
 The Online Auto Connection Road Race was contested by 83 total riders on a beautiful day in Langford. In the A race, a few early moves were brought back until Jay Joslyn slipped off the front and soloed for 3 laps and took the win about 2 minutes in front of a charging pack. In the field sprint, Mike Bridges took it for second place, followed by John Roden, Frank Mesi and John Garrett. In the B race, the race finished in a large field sprint. Unfortunately, there was a crash about a kilometer from the finish, taking down 3 or more riders, and break...
