Joe Cooke of the French Meadow Bakery/Fortistar Cycling team grabbed his first USCF win of the year in the Cat. 4 race at the Bloomfield Classic this past Sunday. He covered the hilly 45 mile course in 2 hrs. 6 min. 29 sec. At only 18 years of age and the youngest rider in the group, Joe defeated a much more experienced field. The call came last night. The State Director called all the Regional Directors who then called the coaches and told us the 2009 are cancelled. While the state had committed to the funding, the venue was left hanging with New Paltz cancelling their contract for hosting when the state orginally pulled funding. Since the State could not or did not find an alternative site and the dates are quickly approaching there would be no time for qualifiers to be put on by all the sports.The Games are scheduled to be in Buffalo in 2010.
